Extruded magnesium ribbon (1.75 V alloy) on a steel core, sometimes used instead of sacrificial anodes. Supplied in 305 m reels, capacity 1,230 Ah/kg.
Description
Sometimes used instead of service anodes, magnesium ribbon is extruded from a 1.75 V potential alloy onto a Ø3.4 mm steel bar core. Its nominal dimensions are 19 × 9.5 mm for a weight of 0.361 kg/m. It is generally supplied in full 305 m reels (shorter lengths on request).
Its capacity is 1,230 Ah/kg. The output current per metre of length is about 2.5 A in sea water (25 Ω·cm), 12 mA in soil (5,000 Ω·cm) and 4 mA in fresh water (15,000 Ω·cm).
