Anode centralizer: overview

Anode centralizers are mainly used in cathodic protection boreholes. They keep the anode in the centre of the borehole tube.

IPSI Solutions centralizers are used on various anode types (Fe/Si, Ti-MMO, graphite…): for a 25 mm anode diameter, the standard fins range from 13 to 34 mm (for example for MMO anodes); for 50 mm, from 16 to 110 mm (2-inch Fe/Si anodes); for 75 mm, from 16 to 105 mm (3-inch Fe/Si anodes). Other diameters on request.

Why centre the anode

In a borehole, an anode touching the wall or sitting at an angle is poorly surrounded by backfill. Current then concentrates on the side where the cover is thinnest, the anode wears faster there, and the groundbed's service life shortens. The centralizer keeps the anode on the tube axis, with an even thickness of backfill all around.

How to choose

The centralizer is selected according to the anode diameter (25, 50 or 75 mm) and the borehole diameter, which the fins must fill. It suits iron-silicon, MMO titanium and graphite anodes; for an out-of-range diameter, our team specifies it on request.
