RF-IT – Above Ground Tester for pipeline insulators
Réf. DIP-025
RF-IT tester for checking above-ground pipeline insulating joints by radio frequency (221 kHz). Locates the short-circuit point, usable under cathodic protection.
Description
The RF-IT is a highly sensitive device for testing above-ground pipeline insulators. In automatic mode, it precisely locates the contact point: it emits a beep that speeds up as the fault is approached, together with a sliding-scale LCD display.
It works by radio frequency: one probe applies an HF signal to one side of the pipe, the second receives it; if the received signal is almost as strong as the applied one, the pipe is short-circuited. An internal band-pass filter (221 kHz) eliminates other frequencies, allowing measurement on pipelines under cathodic protection or carrying other currents. The measurement cannot be expressed in ohms.
