AP100 STD potential alarm: overview

The AP100 STD potential alarm is an autonomous device that allows personnel with no particular cathodic-protection knowledge to visually check that their system is working correctly. An acknowledgement without opening the enclosure returns it to the normal state. It is particularly recommended for non-ATEX monitoring: buried tanks, service stations, hazardous areas, isolated sites without power and industrial sites.

It incorporates very-low-power and optical technologies. Designed according to IPSI Solutions' 'all-digital' strategy, it can evolve over time: implementation of functions without hardware modification, continuous robustness improvement and on-site programming or updating of the device. A setting defines the trigger threshold.

The need it meets

Cathodic protection can stop working without any visible sign: a flat battery, a cut cable, a power failure. Without monitoring, the fault only shows up at the next survey, sometimes months later. The AP100 STD makes the fault visible as soon as it occurs, through a simple indicator light, on sites where nobody has the skills or the instrument to measure a potential.

AP100 or AP200?

The AP100 STD signals the fault on site. If the site is not visited regularly, or if the alarm must reach a supervisory system, the AP200, which reports the fault remotely, is better suited. In ATEX zones, a flameproof version is required.
