Exothermic welding

Réf. DIP-042

CADWELD® exothermic welding for permanent copper/copper, copper/steel or steel/steel electrical bonds, with no external energy source. Corrosion-resistant.

Description

The CADWELD® process makes molecular electrical bonds (copper/copper, copper/steel, copper/aluminium, aluminium/aluminium) with no external energy source. As connections are the weak point of any earthing circuit, subject to ageing and corrosion, this bond forms an electrically perfect, corrosion-insensitive connection.

In practice, a filler metal and an ignition powder are poured into a graphite mould; the reduction of copper oxide by aluminium produces, at very high temperature, molten copper precipitated into the welding chamber. The mould shape, its dimensions and the filler-metal dosage depend on the elements to be welded. Installation is carried out in a few simple steps.
