Calomel reference electrode

Réf. DIP-098

Calibrated calomel reference electrode (REF401), traceable to the hydrogen electrode. Laboratory working standard for verifying other reference electrodes.

Description

The calibrated calomel reference electrode (REF401) is traceable to the hydrogen electrode. It constitutes an electrochemical working standard, to be used only for calibrating or verifying other reference electrodes. Under good laboratory practice, this calibration is valid for six months; beyond that, recalibration is recommended.

Calibrations and verifications are carried out by measuring the potential difference between the standard electrode and the electrode to be verified. The electrodes should be conditioned at the measurement temperature for at least one hour, and the work carried out in a vessel electrically isolated from earth (with no moisture on the outer walls) and in an aqueous solution saturated with pure potassium chloride.
