Description
The Handy Cap™ is a 102 × 102 mm prefabricated assembly designed for the cathodic protection of connections on pipes and tanks. Hand-pressed in place over the anode wire weld, it forms a thick, resistant electrically insulating seal covering the weld, the connection wire end and the surrounding area.
Easy to apply and economical, it is used on all anode and test-wire connection weld areas. It is particularly useful on factory-coated pipes, where only a small part of the coating is removed for the exothermic weld, and ideal for limited-access applications.
It consists of an igloo-domed plastic cover sheet with an entry tunnel for the wire, an internal elastomer compound conforming to the irregular weld profile, double rows of serrations to fit small diameters, and a Royston Tac-Tape base (black elastomer tape with very high adhesion).
